Summer Bliss Vegan Smoothie

It has been HOT HOT HOT here the last few days as we prepare for back to school.

This time of year the heat and the hustle and bustle of getting ready to start a new school year can make remembering to eat a bit of an after thought. Especially if what you want to eat takes more than 30 seconds to make and you are trying to be conscious of it being low in sugar, dairy free, gluten free, etc etc. If I have to think this hard- I am just gonna skip it.

BUT if there is one thing I know for certain, forgetting to eat can also turn us into a bit of a grizzly bear if we are not careful and wreck havoc on our hormones, emotions, and patience. 

After experiencing this problem more times than I can count a few years ago, I made the easiest change ever.

A daily smoothie. 

These little magical cups of deliciousness require your cooking level to be eloquently described as

 “Throw a bunch of stuff in a cup, push a button, and go” 

You can drink it while pushing the stroller, walking the isles of Target, hitting the hallways at your office/school building, and you can even drink it while driving!

It takes about 1.5 minutes to make a smoothie that holds you over all day if you have the tools!

First- I use a blender like ninja or magic bullet. I can make the smoothie and blend it in the same cup I will drink it in- less dishes, less time.

Second- Enjoy!

Here is one of my favorite mid morning smoothies I make throughout the week because it has all the hormone balancing elements to keep me feeling satisfied without bloating or a sugar crash 20 minutes later.

The best part, my toddler loves it too and I know she is getting some protein!

Since she and I both had to go dairy free, gluten free, and limit sugar significantly after receiving a diagnosis of candida I have had to make sure that any supplements or food we put into our bodies will help heal our gut health rather than hurt it. This smoothie hits the spot every time 🙂

Summer Bliss Vegan Smoothie 
8 oz Almond milk
1-2 scoops vegan vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup strawberries
2tbs flaxseed

Place in blender cup and blend for 30 seconds.

If you are feeling really crazy, add a colorful straw and sip away the bliss!
