Hi there! My name is Kristen and My Kind of Healthy is a space I have created to chronicle what it is like to go against the grain in a world obsessed with telling us the perfect way we should look, feel, and measure up to others. If you are anything like me, you have at some point in your life been on a quest to find and follow a plan that promised to make you look like the girls we see on covers of magazines. And, if you are like me, you fail over and over. For me, my failure finally lead to hitting rock bottom when it comes to ‘healthy’. After years of working so freaking hard thinking I was ‘healthy’ I realized I was just trading one unhealthy habit for another. I was burnt out, injured, and living a completely unsustainable life. Add to this that I had recently become a mom and it became clear to me that the world’s version of ‘healthy’ was not going to work for me any longer.
Instead, I wanted to create my own idea of healthy. An idea that played completely by MY RULES and was sustainable in a life filled with kids, soccer games, meetings and parties.
And so, I set out to create this community based on the belief that all women, especially moms, should be able to learn how to define healthy living on their terms. A life that allows for consistency, sustainability, and a margarita on a hot day.
My Kind of Healthy is a guilt-free space for moms to come to feel restored, supported, and understood when it comes to healthy habits and motherhood. I created this community because as a new mom, I believe we have a unique set of circumstances that make the “What’s Your Excuse” approach to health, nutrition, and exercise defeating. Especially when you feel you have nothing left to give.
This is a space where you won’t have to worry about outrageous words like “willpower” or “carb-free” shoved in your face ever. You won’t have to worry about falling off any wagons and the only meal plan you will have is the one that you choose because it makes you feel good.
Sounds good, right? But are you thinking, “How does that even work?”
I am here to show you how to put YOU back into the equation of creating a healthy lifestyle. After years of trying all the programs and reading all the books, I learned that all the diets, fads, programs, and fixes are great short term solutions. But the results never last.
Why is this? Let me be the first to tell you, it is not because you failed! You don’t suck! The results don’t last because these types of programs forget to include one key component for success. Your unique body and lifestyle. We are not one size fits all and we do not all have cookie cutter lives. Night shifts, long days, sick kids. This is real life. There is no ‘bubble’ we can put ourselves in while we follow the mystical perfect plan.
So that’s where I come in.
I am here to guide you and teach you how to better understand how our hormones talk to our bodies, how food makes us feel and why, how exercise can bring life back into our bodies, and learn to live a healthy lifestyle on your own terms in the life you are living now.
A lifestyle where you no longer have to spend an ounce of mental or emotional energy on things like counting calories, pants size, or the number on a scale.
